New Style 98.7 FM, launched on 14th August 2002, was born from 15 years of short-term radio broadcasting and training. Our service is reflective of multicultural Birmingham, but at the same time is particularly and distinctly reflective of African Caribbean culture and aspiration.
New Style Radio 98.7FM Objectives
To keep the community informed of civic matters
To give people of the African & Caribbean diaspora a voice
To entertain the community with a variety of music mainly black music of the genre Reggae, Dancehall, Soul & RnB, Hip Hop, Soca, Calypso, Zouk, Jazz, Latin, African, Gospel, and World Sounds
To provide an outlet and platform for local artists
To encourage listeners to interact and be part of the station
To engage school children, students, young people, and others in training, program making, and presentation
To promote and support creative events and activities in Birmingham and the surrounding area.
Newstyle Radio is run mainly by unpaid volunteers. It is part of the Afro-Caribbean Millennium Centre (Charity No: 519691) a registered charity set up to support the educational and social needs of the Afro-Caribbean community in the West Midlands.
